Grand Central, Hong Kong

Grand Central, an urban renewal project in Kwun Tong District, Hong Kong, comprises four residential towers, a two-level public transport interchange, a hawker bazaar, a refuse collection point, and public open space and retail shops. Its residential towers with 2,000 residential units are aligned on two sides of a podium, with a 7,000 square metre large outdoor green space provided in the middle as a leisure park at the top of the podium.

To handle the traffic from residents and visitors, Tremco CPG Hong Kong was called to supply floor coatings for the car park.

On level B1, 6,134 m² of Deckshield ID, a Green Label certified, low VOC, solvent-free, flexible polyurethane coating system, was installed on these intermediate decks to provide a colourful, watertight, hard-wearing surface.

On the basement level, 10,448 m² of the slip and chemical-resistant Deckshield LBD was used due to its capability to control the dissipation of moisture vapour to eliminate the problem of rising damp that will cause the coating to peel.

900 m² of Deckshield IDSD High Grade was applied on G/F to B2 ramp taking the advantage offered by its highly textured, anti-slip finish to provide a safe walking surface to users. The loading area was coated with 960 m² of Flowcoat SF41+Deckshield DPM, a high-performance, solvent-free, chemical resistant, high-build epoxy coating.

The entire flooring project was completed within six months to deliver a functional car park ready for use in July 2021.
