The luxurious 49-storey residential complex, Arte S was set to change the skyline of Penang with its architectural brilliance, comprising of extravagance and style.

The client was eager to reflect the iconic exterior in everything from the flooring to the furniture in the interior. For the floor, Flowcrete Asia suggested ideal materials that contained both the function and the design that the client was looking for.

With the aim of replacing reality with fantasy, bright colours were chosen for the lobby flooring to complement the lavish building design and colourful furniture. This was achieved with 382 m² of Flowtex PT, a heavy duty, epoxy screed with high impact resistance, coated with the self-smoothing epoxy resin Flowshield SL 1000 in Steel Grey and striking pink hues. Deckshield UV Linemarker was used to generate modern free form geometry designs that reflected the architecture of the lobby walls.

For continuation, the innovative and unique PODs located on the 36th and 37th floor were decorated using the same flooring systems as the lobby. The smaller of the PODs hosts the first ‘hanging’ Jacuzzi in the world, making it the ideal location for entertaining guests with a unique talking point. Besides being visually attractive, Flowshield SL 1000 is abrasion resistant and easy to clean, meaning that the floor will maintain its aesthetic whilst withstanding footfall and scuffs expected in lobby areas.

14 m² of the solvent-based polyurethane floor sealer with a satin finish, Flowseal UV Satin, was used on the staircases of the complex, providing abrasion resistance as well as being easy to clean and maintain.

The entire installation took 15 days to complete before the client was ready to welcome guests into the brand new lobby and POD areas.
