Being near to the sea, the museum is exposed to high humidity. Therefore, a coating system that is able to overcome damaging effects of high rising dampness is essential. Flowcrete’s Deckshield LBD system was specifically selected by the architect for this reason.
Over 1,000m2 Deckshield LBD was installed on the ground floor carpark. The traffic coating system incorporates a technically advanced polyurethane-based dissipating moisture barrier, which is an important feature to protect coatings on the lower basement where humidity is especially high. The system - being able to tolerate up to 100% relative humidity in the concrete or screed substrate - helps to prevent delamination. With its anti-slip texture, the coating delivers safe surfaces for drivers and pedestrians.
To display vivid signages and to brighten up the car park, Deckshield UV Linemarker was used to demarcate service bay, traffic signage and bay numbering.
The entire flooring project was completed within 3 months to deliver a functional, durable and attractive car park ready for use in June 2022.
