New Car Park Surface Makes a Splash at Marine and Water Bureau Building

Flowcrete Hong Kong was tasked with supplying over 4,000 m2 of high performance resin flooring for the underground parking area at the Marine and Water Bureau building in Macau. Formerly known as the Moorish Barracks, the structure has a long history and was originally built in 1874 to accommodate a regiment from Goa, Portuguese India.

It was important that the new traffic coatings provided the best modern functionality without detracting from the location’s historic image. Several coating and moisture barrier systems were installed throughout the project, providing a tailor made solution for the historical structure.

To solve issues with the high levels of humidity and ground moisture in the lowest basement area, Deckshield LBD was specified by the project architects. Deckshield LBD is a flexible polyurethane deck coating system that provides an attractive and hard wearing moisture barrier that dissipates rising moisture from the substrate, preventing blistering and delamination issues.

Deckshield IDSD was also used to coat the entrance and exit ramps to the car park facility. This system is specifically designed for these car park areas to provide enhanced durability and a courser texture that enables vehicles to navigate safely around the facility.
