SMU Car Park Uses Deckcoat EPW For Refurbishment

The Singapore Management University’s (SMU) city campus in Bras Basah was officially opened in January 2006. It is a state-of-the-art facility located in the heart of downtown Singapore, fostering strategic linkages with business, government, and the wider community.

Over the years, the surface of the SMU Lee Kong Chian School of Business’s basement car park had deteriorated due to constant vehicular traffic and prolonged exposure to ground moisture. To mitigate the risk of such problems arising again, SMU required that the new car park’s surface coating must be tolerant to raising moisture vapours. With that in mind, Deckcoat EPW was selected for application because it is a water-based traffic coating system that is specifically designed for damp environments.

Deckcoat EPW is Green Label certified, making it an environmentally preferred coating option due to it’s low VOC content, and was applied despite the car park remaining active for drivers during the refurbishment works. This helped to save time and minimise disruption to the school’s faculty staff and students.

Approximately 10,600 m2 of Deckcoat EPW covers the car park, driveway, and ramps to provide an attractive, watertight, and easy-to-maintain seamless surface, while its Warm Grey and Dark Grey hues cosmetically enhanced the environment making it brighter and more welcoming for visitors.
