Tai Po Sports & Community Centre, Hong Kong

Tai Po Sports & Community Centre is a five-storey complex in Hong Kong. The popular sports venue houses a heated swimming pool, a 400-seat sports hall, two multipurpose rooms, a gym, an artificial bowling green, as well as café, offices and conference rooms to provide various recreation and sports facilities to the general public.

To provide better parking facilities, the old car park which belonged to the Tai Po Wet Market was refurbished to become part of the sports centre’s upgraded car park. Tremco CPG Hong Kong was given the job to supply the Flowcrete coating.

Flowcrete’s Deckshied ID coating system along with Deckshield EP - a fast-curing epoxy resin primer that can tolerate up to 95% relative humidity in concrete or screed substrate - was specified for this project. Over 6,000m² of the high performance floor coating was applied throughout the basement one level and driveway.

Deckshield ID is a Green Label certified, low VOC, solvent free, flexible polyurethane traffic coating system. Its chemical resistance provides robust protection to coating surfaces from damages by automotive chemicals such as fuel, engine oil, battery acid, hydraulic fluid etc. whereby to extend the service life of the car park.

The project was completed in 90 days to deliver a new, safe, attractive and comfortable car park providing parking spaces for 200 private cars, 20 motorcycles, 3 coaches and 3 operational vehicles for the pleasure of users and visitors.
