Alice Smith International School, Malaysia

Deckshield Chosen for International School’s Design & Technology Department

The Alice Smith School, founded in 1946, is a leading international school in Kuala Lumpur with an enrolment of approximately 1,600 students across two campuses in Malaysia. The Primary Campus is on Jalan Bellamy in the heart of the capital, and the Secondary Campus is at Equine Park in Seri Kembangan, Selangor. In 2019, the Secondary Campus’s Design & Technology department required a fresh flooring solution as the old vinyl floor has begun to peel badly, so Flowcrete Asia was contacted to supply the job.

Flowcrete’s Deckshield LBD – originally developed as a moisture tolerant, high build polyurethane traffic coating system for basement structures – was selected to renovate the floor area. Although not expected to protect against the cyclical movement of daily vehicular traffic, the floor finish was required to provide a hard wearing and chemical resistant surface which was seamless, easy to clean and could incorporate a moderate anti-slip texture. In addition, as the floor area was located on the ground slab, careful consideration needed to be made to combat any elements of rising moisture. By selecting Deckshield LBD, the facility manager can be rest assured knowing that there will be no unsightly blisters or delamination appearing on the surface.

Over 170 m2 of Deckshield LBD was professionally applied and the fully renovated floor was ready to welcome students within one month.
