Commune Modern, which has been built by property developers Sino Group, includes two 25-level residential towers as well as a shopping mall and parking facilities for both tenants and shoppers.
The project’s architects knew that the car park would need to maintain an attractive, functional finish despite a number of onsite challenges. For example, the floor would have to cope with the constant movement of heavy vehicles, impacts, scuffs and wear as well as exposure to automotive substances such as battery acid, fuel, oil and grease.
In order to provide a safe and reliable surface for the long term, 2,400 m2 of the Green Label certified, solvent-free polyurethane deck coating system Deckshield ID was applied on the ground, first and second levels of the car park structure.
For the basement level a specialist coating was required due to the fact that moisture rising from the underlying substrate could cause the floor finish to fail. 1,600 m2 of Deckshield LBD was applied, as it contains a moisture dissipating barrier which means that water vapour will safely disperse through the coating without damaging it.
The car park’s designers chose a visually striking floor to reflect a luxury, high-end atmosphere. A sleek, contemporary dark grey was picked for the main roads and bays which provided a perfect backdrop for the crisp white line marking as well as the bold colours that were used for the front of the parking spaces. Bright yellow as well as custom blue, green and light grey colours were made to ensure that the tones matched other elements of the interior design scheme.
Sino Group knew that Flowcrete Asia was the ideal supplier for the project, as the leading property developer had worked with the resin flooring specialist on eight separate projects over the previous three years.
