Flowcrete Achieves Top Recognition with 4-Tick Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) Certification Across Multiple Product Lines, Driven by ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 Excellence

 

We proudly announce several Flowcrete key products has been awarded the 4-tick Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) Certification, the highest level of recognition under the SGBC’s rigorous assessment scheme.

The prestigious 4-tick rating, denoting 'Leader' status, recognizes products that exemplify outstanding environmental performance and sustainable manufacturing practices.

This achievement reflects not only our ongoing commitment to sustainability but also highlights the pivotal role we play in adhering to ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System).

The following Flowcrete flooring products are now officially certified with the 4-tick ‘Leader’ rating:

Additionally, Flowcrete renowned car park decking systems - Deckshield SF and Deckshield Finish (which previously held the 3-tick ‘Excellent’ rating) have now been upgraded to 4-tick ‘Leader’ rating. With this upgrade, the entire Deckshield ID series is now certified at the highest SGBP level.   

 

Why Is It Important to Use Lab-Tested and Certified Products

 

 

Before a product is considered safe for people and the environment, it must undergo strict testing by an independent and accredited third-party lab.

Firstly, it must not contain harmful heavy metals like lead, mercury, cadmium or hexavalent chromium, which is known to be toxic and carcinogenic (may cause cancer) with long-term exposure.

 

 

The product must also avoid high levels of hazardous chemicals like solvents, phthalates, formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are commonly found in paints, plastics and cleaning products. Formaldehyde can irritate the eyes, nose and throat. Prolonged exposure may cause serious health issues.

VOCs are especially concerning. These are fumes released during the manufacturing and installation of paints and coatings. While VOCs help paint dry and create a smooth finish, they also pollute indoor air and can cause headaches, dizziness, asthma or even cancer.

As a final step in lab testing, the product is sealed in a chamber for 7 days to measure emissions. Only those with very low VOC and formaldehyde levels are approved for green building use. Every test result must be clearly recorded. Only products that meet all the safety and environmental requirements can be certified.

These stringent testing requirements align with our company’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Our initiatives include the use of low-VOC and solvent-free products, offering a safer alternative for building owners and its occupants.
